May, 2009: Easily Create Portable and Protected Applications with MoleBox Ultra
Teggo Software Ltd. announces the release of MoleBox Ultra,
a new edition of its popular software virtualization tool. MoleBox Ultra packages
native Windows and .NET applications into portable standalone executables that run
without installation from any source, like CD-ROM, USB or network drive. MoleBox
allows software developers, publishers and IT professionals to simplify software
deployment and avoid compatibility errors.
Why Virtualize Your Software
Traditional software installation process frequently requires administrator privileges,
includes installation and registration of many components, and takes minutes or even hours
of time. Another application using different versions of the same components may corrupt
your installation. Virtualization solves all these problems, making software portable and
allowing it to run instantly, independent of user privileges.
MoleBox Ultra, 2-in-1 Virtualization and Protection Solution
According to growing requests from the customers, in the new MoleBox edition its
developers have extended the feature set; in particular, protection capabilities were
dramatically increased. MoleBox Ultra may be now used as a virtualization and
protection tool at the same time, which makes it unique at the market.
The new technology used in MoleBox Ultra also improves existing functionality
of the older MoleBox versions - software virtualization, DLL and ActiveX embedding,
and adds support for newer operating systems and .NET applications. Additionally,
MoleBox Ultra features 'virtual registry' technology which allows using any
ActiveX components without installation and helps avoiding DLL Hell and version conflicts.
The new MoleBox Ultra offers several different kinds of software protection methods.
Packed binaries are protected from static reverse engineering and classic cracker's attacks.
Additionally, MoleBox ultra protects packed components and media content from being reused by
external programs, extracted or modified.
'A major concern of software vendors choosing a 3rd party protection tool is so-called
'false positives problem'. Frequently antivirus software by error treats virtualized or
protected programs as viruses or malware, and this is very disturbing both for software
developers and their users, - says Alexey Sudachen, founder and CTO at Teggo Software Ltd.
August, 2005: ActiveX deployment made easy
MoleBox Pro introduces version 2.5
MoleBox Pro, a well-known software deployment and application data protection
solution, announces the major update, adding compatibility with ActiveX components.
MoleBox Pro allows software developers to create a "virtual file system" for their
applications, linking all the application files into a single efficient executable file,
which runs without extracting packed files to the hard drive. In addition, it protects data
files from viewing and modifications, and DLLs from 3rd party use.
This new version of MoleBox Pro features the capability to integrate ActiveX components into
executable files. Traditionally, ActiveX components must be installed before use, but MoleBox
Pro eliminates this need. Main advantages of using MoleBox Pro include:
- Using ActiveX components without installation and registration on the end-user
computer;
- Running applications under User privilege, since MoleBox does not affect the Windows
Registry;
- Preventing component files corruption and possible version conflicts caused by other
software using same components;
- Protecting components from unauthorized use.
ActiveX components may be linked to the executable as easy as common DLLs, without
need to provide additional information or write manifest files. MoleBox extracts all
the necessary information directly from the component.
"This feature, ActiveX support, was the one most requested by our customers,
and we are very pleased to offer it now", said Olga Marchevska, marketing manager at Teggo.
"With its increasing functionality, MoleBox keeps being user-friendly and easy to use".
MoleBox Pro - Overview
MoleBox Pro is a runtime executable packer for Windows applications,
that processes software and all of it supplementary files in order to create a
single executable file. In doing so, the program compresses and encrypts executable files,
data, media files and DLLs, as well as integrates DLLs into executable file.
After processing any software application with MoleBox, that data can not be viewed,
extracted, copied or modified. In addition, reverse-engineering becomes extremely difficult.
The program does not affect the functionality of the original application in any way nor
requires any additional coding.
MoleBox features at a glance:
- Package application and its supplementary files
- Run application without extracting packed files to the hard drive
- Protect data files from viewing and modifications
- Protect DLLs and ActiveX components from 3rd party use
- Use ActiveX components without registration
- Compress and encrypt all the application files
- Secure application integrity
- Manage patches and updates
May, 2004: MoleBox Pro 2.2
MoleBox Pro helps software developers pack applications to protect them from prying eyes,
disassembling and unauthorized use.
MoleBox Pro is a runtime exe packer utility for Windows applications that processes
software and all of it resource files in order to create a single executable file.
In doing so, the program compresses and encrypts executable files, data, media files
and DLLs, as well as embeds DLLs into executable file. After processing any software
application with MoleBox, that data can not be viewed, extracted, copied or modified.
In addition, reverse-engineering becomes extremely difficult. The program does not
affect the functionality of the original application in any way nor requires any
additional coding.
The software was developed by a group of software developers who were looking for a way
to protect their application components from being used illegally. After the program
was developed, not a single application processed with MoleBox according to MoleStudio
recommendations was cracked or disassembled.
This new version of software, called MoleBox Pro, comes with a capability to create several
packages, rather than packing all data into a single file. For example, developers
can now opt to pack all their media files (sound, graphics, 3D models, textures, etc)
to protect from illegal coping separately. Custom encryption options for each pack are
available as well. The other advantages of processing software with MoleBox Pro includes
avoiding dll conflicts (when two or more applications use the same dll file), decreasing
overall size of applications, and easily creating patches, upgrades, add-ons, level packs.
